John Aulik

John J. Aulik, 80, Ashwaubenon, was accompanied by his family of loved ones as he peacefully passed on to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, Sept. 1, 2007, at a local hospital. John was alert and able to talk to and even bless each family member there. John was joyful and witnessing to the end. He was born on Sept. 28, 1926 in Kewaunee County. In 1951, he married the former Germaine Dhuey in Casco and on July 18, 2007, they celebrated 56 wonderful years together. John grew up in Kewaunee County. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from Sept., 1944 to Aug., 1947. He served on the USS Leyte as an Airborne Radioman. After service, John attended Normal School for Teaching in Algoma and St. Norbert College, De Pere. He enjoyed attending the Catholic Diocese Holy Name Retreat House on Chambers Island for over 50 years. He made this an annual tradition with his wife, sons and grandsons. John worked for AT&T Telephone Co. for over 30 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. John and Germaine were active members of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Ashwaubenon Council 7498. He was a very loving and kind husband, father and grandfather. He lived his life by example. Let my every deed follow my faith. Blessed are they who die in the Lord for their good deeds will follow them. - Revelations 14:13 May the Lord bless you and keep you. Survivors include his wife, Germaine; five children and their spouses: Mary and Dean Goss, Tom and Jane Aulik, John and Sue Aulik, Jim Aulik, and Joe and Cathy Aulik; grandchildren: Shannon (Karen) Goss, Ryan (Erin) Goss, Louis Goss, John Goss, Nick Aulik (special friend, Rosanna and Mason), Angela (Andy) Trudell, Weston (Amy) Flegel, Lucas Flegel, Michael Aulik, Chad Aulik, Alicia Aulik, Isaac Aulik, Elijah Aulik, Glory Aulik and Caleb Aulik; great grandchildren: Garrett Goss and Kailyn Trudell; one brother: Eugene (Lorraine) Aulik; one sister, Gladys (Melvin) Gallenberger; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes (Sevcik) Aulik, and his sister, Ruth (Earl) Opicka.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, where an American Legion prayer service will take place at 6:00 p.m. followed immediately by a parish wake service. Visitation will continue after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. followed by military honors outside of church. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. John's family would like to express thanks to Melanie, Barbara and the other nurses and staff of Bellin Hospital, Father Feeli, Chaplain Bill, and especially John's son, Jim, all of whom John called angels of mercy.
