Ruby Grainger, 69, a Green Bay resident for 37 years, passed away at home on Monday, January 28, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 2, 1938 in Waterloo, Wisconsin, to the late Ruben and Frances (Walashek) Deppe. On May 31, 1957, she married Gary Grainger at Evangelical and Reformed Church in Reeseville, Wisconsin. They celebrated 50 wonderful years together. Ruby was a devoted mother of three and a faithful member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she served on the Funeral Committee and the Altar Guild. She also served as a teacher's aide at MacArthur School. When her children were young, she served as a Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and Bluebirds leader in Oshkosh. Ruby enjoyed working in her yard and took pride in her flowerbeds. An avid bridge player, she was a member of numerous bridge clubs and with her husband, Gary, played in many couples' marathons. Together they also enjoyed going to the casino and the 12 years they wintered in Florida.
Ruby is survived by her loving husband, Gary; three children, Kim (Charles) Brown, Nekoosa; Todd Grainger and special friend, Kim Valentine, Little Suamico; and Kurt (Gail) Grainger, Hugo, Minnesota; four granddaughters, Trish, Tiffany and Tamara Hermes and Britain Grainger; one great-grandson, Aiden Faucher; two sisters, Alyce (Bill) George and Frances (Al) Lischka; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Alfrieda Grainger and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Nancy Grainger.
Friends may call after 9a.m Thursday, January 31, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 South Ridge Road where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating.
