Ruth E. Lewis, 69, Green Bay, died Sunday, November 23, 2008, at a local hospital. She was born August 30, 1939, to the late G. A. and Agnes (Nelson) Pape in Kenosha, Wisconsin. On July 24, 1976, she married Gerald Lewis in Green Bay. She was employed by the U. S. Department of Agriculture for nearly 20 years and later retired from Wipfli Ullrich Bertelson LLP. Ruth was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. She was a UWGB Basketball fan and a member of its Booster Club. She was a long-time Packer fan and loved to do needlepoint. The love of her life was her black cat, Mr. Whiskers, who died last year at the age of 19 ÃÆ'�½.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry; one son, Eric, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Vanessa and Zachary; two sisters and one brother-in-law, JoAnn and Harley Doering, Milwaukee and Sara Maaske, Des Moines, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Carolyn (Ron) Kading, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Errol Maaske.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2160 Packerland Drive, where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Witte officiating. Burial will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Bellin Hospital ACU for the outstanding professionalism and sincere care given to Ruth in her last days.
