Harold R. Weaver, my dad, joined my mother in heaven today April 24, 2009. He was born in Arthur, Illinois on November 13, 1914 to the late Harry and Calla Weaver. He moved to Wisconsin as a young boy where he attended vocational schools. Dad and mom met in Green Bay and were married on September 2, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Dad and Mom moved to Detroit in 1942 where he worked in the defense plants and several auto plants. He retired from Kaiser Frazer and then he went to work for the city of Dearborn Hts. as a mechanic. He retired in 1971, they then moved up to Abrams, WI and operated the Country Jct. Tavern for 37 years. After mom's death in 2001 and his failing health he sold the tavern and moved to Green Bay. There he resided with his daughter Sue and Rex. Dad was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and very much enjoyed the visits from Pastor Earl, Pastor Gail, Sue Rasmussen and Carole, the church nurse.
Dad is survived by his two daughters, Sue and Rex Snethen, Green Bay, and Judy Weaver of Abilene, KS; six grandchildren, Cheryl Sanderson, Lyle and Sandy Miller, Michelle and Brad Homann, Mike and Cheryl Miller all of Kansas; Kelly and Jeff Ferris (Iraq) and Darrell and Dawn Snethen of Green Bay; 15 great-grandchildren, Josh Sanderson, Shalia and Carrisa Miller, Blake, Brooke and Bryson Homann, Michael, Thad and Seth Miller all of Kansas; Danielle Frisque, Michael Wallace, Jayme Ferris, Jennifer Snethen, Andrew Snethen (Iraq), and Bryan, all of Green Bay. He is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Vannes and Pauline and Sye Detrie of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and his special friends, Ed and Lavonne Crummy and Bill Zakow, he truly enjoyed your visits.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruth, his parents, four brothers, several sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends may call after 10:00 am Tuesday, April 28, at Fort Howard Mausoleum where the memorial service will take place at 11:00 am with the Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Entombment will be at Fort Howard Mausoleum.
We want to thank the "angels" of the 400 wing of Golden Living Nursing Home for the love and care you gave to dad during his stay. Also thanks to Dr. Francis Lee for his care.
