As an infant, her family moved to Sobieski, Wisconsin where she grew up on the family farm. As a young adult, she moved to Milwaukee and later to Chicago. She was employed in several interesting careers including candy maker, department store elevator operator, and a variety of responsibilities at a printing company. During World War II, Sophia proudly served her country by helping to manufacture aircraft engines at the Dodge plant in Chicago.
After retiring, she moved to Green Bay to help take care of her grandsons. Sophia was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother who always took great pride and interest in her children and grandchildren's lives. Crafting projects were always a source of great enjoyment for her where she made beautiful embroidery pieces, paintings, and hook latch rugs. Sophia also enjoyed reading mystery novels in her spare time. She was an avid indoor gardener and also took precious care of her dog Mocha. When Sophia moved to Green Bay she took up a walking program where she walked three miles a day until she was in her 80's. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
She will be enormously missed by her surviving relatives: Patricia and John Christman, Green Bay, Richard Hartz, Nebraska, James and Stella Cash, Illinois, John and Francine Cash, Illinois.
