Kim Monahan

Kim A. Monahan, 45, Ashwaubenon, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at a local hospital with her family by her side. She was born on February 13, 1965 in Green Bay to Jerome and Judith (Johnson) O’Keefe. She was a 1983 graduate of Ashwaubenon High School. On October 1, 1988, she married Michael Monahan at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Green Bay. Kim was employed by Humana for 17 years prior to taking a position with Ameriprise, where she worked for the past five years. Kim had a green thumb and loved the outdoors, particularly flowers, plants and songbirds. She enjoyed special family gatherings at the families’ cabins. Kim touched many hearts and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her contagious smile and nurturing ways.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Mike; two daughters: Meghan and Macie, both at home; parents: Jerry and Judi O’Keefe, Green Bay; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Michelle and Chris Zirbel, and Kelly and Terry Vanden Plas, all of Green Bay; parents-in-law: Bill and Bonnie Monahan, De Pere; two brothers-in-law: Chad Monahan and Eric (Lisa) Monahan, both of Green Bay; nieces and nephews: Jarod and Morgan Zirbel, Kayla Vanden Plas, and Mya and Madelyn Monahan; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Kim was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Becker officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial has been established.
Kim’s family wishes to thank all of the doctors and nurses of Aurora Baycare Medical Center’s ICU for the special care and compassion that they provided, and for the extraordinary support of family and friends, including Mike’s co-workers at Fox Valley Metal Tech, over these past three weeks.
