Uno E. Maki, 92, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 with his two Daughters at his side, at a local nursing home. He was born
March 11, 1918 to the late Nestor and Ida (Karja-Aho) Maki. He married Viola Kivi and later married Harriet Collins. She preceded him in death in 1998. Uno was a welder for American Motors and later worked in the pipelines as a bus driver. In his younger years, he operated a dairy farm in Erwin Township with his parents and later with his step-father, John Vesterbacka.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen (Dale) Choronzy, Karen Maccaux and special friend Jamie Desotell; four grandchildren, Nathan, David (Diana), Tim (Kelli) and Andy Choronzy.
In addition to his parents, Uno is preceded in death by his step-father, John Vesterbacka.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 120 South Henry Street, where the funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. David Hatch officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Uno's name.
