William G. Thurston
September 8, 1936 - January 28, 2012

William G Thurston, "Stub" of Antigo, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Bohlman Manor in Birnamwood. He was 75 years old. He was born on September 8, 1936 in Glidden, a son of Joseph and Gertrude (Taylor) Thurston.

He graduated from Glidden High School then served in the United States Army at a paratrooper from 1954 to 1957. After service he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local #647 out of Ramsey, Minn. He worked throughout the country for the boilermakers union as a welder for 30 years. He has been a resident of the Antigo area since 1967.

Mr. Thurston was a lifetime member of the Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post #3, Antigo, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing and trap shooting.

Survivors include a sister Mary Elleson, Antigo.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother George Thurston in infancy and a brother-in-law, Ralph Elleson.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery where the Antigo veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to All Saints Catholic School 419 Sixth Ave. Antigo, WI 54409.
