Ronald "Dean" Olson
May 18, 1928 - April 16, 2009

Ronald "Dean" Olson age 80, of Ames Iowa died April 16, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, a gathering of friends and family will be 5:00 -- 8:00 PM Sat. Apr. 18, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way with a Celebration of Dean's life at 3:00 PM Sunday, Apr. 19 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care.
Dean was born May 18, 1928 in Ames, the son of Emil and Randa (Bauge) Olson. He graduated from Ames High School. He married Doris Moser on June 6, 1953 in Ames. Dean started farming with his dad. Dean and Doris lived on the Iowa State University Curtis Farm for 34 years. Dean retired from Iowa State in 1991 due to Parkinson Disease. He was a member of Westside Church of Christ.
Dean is survived by his wife Doris of Ames, two daughters and sons in-law, Mary and Mike Boswell of Cannon, TX Jane and Jerry Spurlin of Fort Dodge. Three grandchildren, Clint (Delisa) Boswell Stinnette, TX Jesseca (John) Jackson Trophy Club, TX Matthew (Amanda) Spurlin of Ames: two great grandchildren Jaret Boswell and Bray Boswell, two sisters, Twin sister Ramona Poulson of Arkasas and Helen (Howard Koch of IL.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Wallace Olson in Iwo Jima in 1945.
