Julius "Jude" Johnson
December 11, 1923 - March 9, 2009

Julius "Jude" Stanley Johnson (age 85) a long-time Story County area resident died Monday, March 9, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Visitation will be 3:00 -- 8:00 PM Wed, March 11 with the family present 6:00 -- 8:00 PM at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way , Ames . Funeral services for Jude will be 10:30 AM March 12, Thursday at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames . Burial will be at Story Memorial Gardens in Ames .
Jude was born December 11, 1923 in Roland, the son of Lloyd A. and Anna Mae (Hill) Johnson. He graduated from Milford High School where he participated in many athletic sports. He married Juanita Allen on December 9, 1950 in Des Moines . He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames . Jude farmed with his brother, Earl, early in farming days and had a dairy milking herd for many years southeast of Ames . He enjoyed his stallion, Sam, watching RFD television, bull riding and cutting horse competitions, dancing, golfing, bowling, bus trips, and attending local parades.
Jude is survived by his wife, Juanita Johnson of Ames, and their beloved dog Zoey, one sister, Lois Turkington of Keizer, OR, one aunt, Arlotte Tjernagel of Story City, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins and many cherished friends.
Jude was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Juella Clark, brothers, Earl and Merrill Johnson
Memorials may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames.
