Carl Kenneth Marquette
January 14, 1938 - January 25, 2009

Carl Kenneth Marquette Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 25, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 AM Wed. Jan 28 at The Rose Assisted Living Chapel in Ames, IA.
Carl was born January 14, 1938 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Robert Sr. and Hazel (Marlow) Marquette, and then moved with his family to Lawrence KS. Carl was a man of many talents. He used his gift of music as choir director at the Christian Baptist Church in Sioux City, Iowa, and his artistic talents painting a stage curtain for the art department of a high school in Topeka KS, and giving art lessons to his friends at The Rose of Ames, Iowa where he spent his last days. He worked on the façade of the Topeka State Capitol Building. Having a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and loved to cook, using his talent as a chef in several restaurants.
Carl is survived by his children, Kelly Ann Marquette, Karla Jo Peck, and Tracy Lee all of Topeka, KS, Carrie Lynn Marquette of Florida, Carl K of California, Carl Kenneth II of Ames, IA, Kayla Ann Crook of Altoona, IA, 16 grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Marquette and his wife Betty of Granbury, TX, and Joseph and his wife Norma of Cleveland OH, and one sister, Trudy Calvert and her husband John of Lake Quivira, KS. Carl was a favorite uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents Robert Sr. and Hazel (Marlow) Marquette and his beloved dog "Rockie"
Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care of Ames, IA are assisting the family.

"Still missing you very much Dad. Been two years already, and you have another Grand daughter named Kylie. We love and miss you very much. Allison still makes comments about you, which makes my days without you more cheerful."
