In loving memory of

Arlette Rouse
March 14, 1920 - January 4, 2009

Arlette Rouse, 88, passed away Sunday morning, January 4th, at the Green Hills Health Care Center, Ames, Iowa.
A memorial and celebration service will be held in her honor at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley, Iowa, on Saturday, January 10th at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Olivia, MN.
Arlette was born March 14, 1920 on a farm near Howard, South Dakota to Ed and Laura (Jacobsen) Hansen. In 1934 they moved to a farm near Bird Island, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school and completed normal training to teach in country schools until she married to Wayne Rouse on December 22, 1941. They farmed north of Olivia, Minnesota, for many years. Following retirement, they moved to Kissimmee, Florida, in 1987. Arlette resided in Florida until May 2007 when she moved to Ballard Creek Assisted Living in Huxley, Iowa, to be near family.
Mom was a "natural born teacher". She enjoyed teaching in country schools, was a long time Sunday school teacher and was determined her sons attend college. She was dedicated farm wife and in her retirement years enjoyed playing the organ, playing a game of "Rummikub" with friends and family, and delivering meals on wheels in the Good Samaritan Retirement Village in Kissimmee, Florida.
Arlette was a loving mother and grandmother. Family that cherish her memory are her children: Gene (Marita) Rouse of Huxley, IA, and Glen (Peg) Rouse of Sedalia, CO, and three grandchildren: Adam, Paul and Julie Rouse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, and her parents Ed and Laura Hansen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Ballard Community Dollars for Scholars program or Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family with the arrangements.
