James "Scoop" Hildebrand

James R. "Scoop" Hildebrand age 57, of Polk City and formerly of Ames died December 31 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A gathering of family and friends will be at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 4. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 5 at Collegiate Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Jim was born in 1951 in Ames, son of Dr. Howard H. and Maxine (Grant) Hildebrand. He graduated from Ames High School in 1969 and from Iowa State University where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Agent for 30 years. Jim was a loyal Iowa State alumnus, true FIJI Brother, and an enthusiastic fan of the ISU Women's basketball team.
He is survived by his mother, Maxine Hildebrand of Ames; one sister, Patti (Dave) Spatcher of West Bend, WI; two brothers: Mike (Carol) Hildebrand of Lakeview, AR, and Steve (Betsy) Hildebrand of St. Louis, MO; nieces and nephew: Christy Rutledge, Christopher Anderson, and Dana and Kate Hildebrand; and three great nieces: Caitlyn, Chandler, and Carley Rutledge.
He was preceded in death by his father, and nephew Wesley Hildebrand".
