MOUND, Minnesota--Evelyn Fordyce, 90, of Mound, Minnesota, formerly of Muscatine, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on February 25, 2012.

Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 400 Iowa Avenue, Muscatine, Iowa. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the funeral home. The family would like to issue a special thank you to Asera Care Hospice Services. Memorials are preferred, directed to the American Cancer Society. Huber Funeral & Cremation Services, Mound Chapel are handling the arrangements.

Evelyn was born on June 8, 1921, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Lucile Drummond Kepler. She married Thomas L. Fordyce April 3, 1943. They were married nearly 40 years when Tom passed away in 1983.

She grew up in Fairfield where she attended school and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1939. In 1943, she graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield and received her M.A. in 1962 from the University of Iowa. Evelyn started teaching 1943-44 at Libertyville High School, 1944-47 at Douds High School, 1954-55 at Libertyville High School, 1955-57 at Selma High School, 1957-59 at Argyle High School, 1959-67 Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman, 1967-68 at West Junior High School in Muscatine, and from 1968-1985 at Muscatine Community, as a Business/Office Education Instructor/Secretarial Coordinator.

She enjoyed reading, bridge and traveling with her husband.

She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, Muscatine Wesley United Methodist Church, Ruth Circle & various committees; TTT Society, Omicron Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma; National Education Association; Iowa State Education Association; Iowa State Faculty Association; Great River UniServe Unit Executive Board; EICC Faculty Association; Muscatine Business and Professional Women; Paddlewheel Chapter National Secretary Association; Omicron Chapter, Delta Pi Epsilon; Iowa Business Education Association; North Central Business Education Association; American Vocational Association; Iowa Vocational Association; and the Iowa Office Education Coordinators Association.

She is survived by her sons, Kent Fordyce (Tina Carlin), Thomas "Scott" (Pamela) Fordyce; her grandchildren, Kari Ann Fordyce, Kristi Mari Fordyce, Christopher (Shanda) Fordyce and Sara (Ron) Mutchler; step-grandchildren, Terri (Joel Mikolich), Traci (Curtis Rotter), and Tom Carlin; great-grandchildren, Taylor (Kari), Madison, Matthew, & Michael (Terri), Elvis & Emelia (Traci), Caden Raes and Symon Fordyce; a sister, Aileen (Laird) Emry; a brother in-law, Keith Ireland; sisters in-law, Dot Kepler, Elinor Fordyce, and Glenna Fordyce; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her mother and father in-law, Meta and Oren Fordyce; two sisters, Lucille (Keith) Ireland, Carol (George) Richards; a brother, Charles (Dot) Kepler; brothers in-law, George Richards, Laird Emry, Kenneth Fordyce, and Merwin Fordyce; and nephews, Eddie and David Richards.
