Nancy Lee Waller, one of four children of Fred Junior Kuhl and Kathryn Geneva (Buckingham) Kuhl, was born on December 24, 1939 at Pacific Junction, Iowa. Nancy attended Box Elder country school near Henderson, Iowa and Old Pacific country school near Pacific Junction. She attended Glenwood High School where she graduated in 1957. Following school, Nancy moved to Omaha, Nebraska and worked at Mutual of Omaha.
Nancy and Raymond Stanley Waller were united in marriage on April 19, 1959 at the Glenwood Christian Church. They made their home in the Council Bluffs and Omaha area until moving to Malvern in 1964. The marriage was blessed with their five children, Debbie Lynn, Christina Lee, John Wesley, and twins Michelle and Renee. Nancy enjoyed caring for the family and being a homemaker. In 1973, Nancy and Stanley purchased and operated Nancy's Apparel in Malvern. She enjoyed participating in the many community events including Malvern's Centennial Celebration and Heritage Days. In 1978, Nancy became the secretary for the superintendent at the Nishna Valley School at rural Hastings, IA. In 1982, Nancy began work as secretary to Reikes-Crissa in Omaha and in 1984, she began at the Glenwood Resource Center in computer operations. Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, vacationing, entertaining, and bluegrass music. Nancy blended her two favorite pastimes when fellow bluegrass musicians would gather at their home each July 4th for Nancy's annual "Pickin & A Grinnin Front Porch Jamm." She would entertain and served as many as 75 guests at her annual event. Nancy had worked at the Glenwood Resource Center nearly 20 years when her fight against cancer forced her to retire on January 31, 2003.
Nancy and Stan had been married nearly 44 years when Nancy died at their home in Malvern on March 3, 2003. She had attained the age of 63 years, 2 months, and 9 days. Nancy was preceded in death by her infant daughter Renee in 1971, mother-in-law Margaret Waller in 1989, son-in-law Gilbert Androy in 1997, father-in-law Raymond Waller and her mother Kathryn in 1998. She is survived by her husband R. Stan Waller of Malvern; children Debbie Pickard and husband Joe and their children Clint and Melanie Pickard of State Center, Iowa, Christina Androy and her children Jason and Jordan Miller and Georgia Androy of Malvern, John Waller of Moulton, Texas and his children Brittany and Justin Waller of McClelland, Iowa, and Michelle Waller of Tabor, Iowa; father Fred Kuhl Junior and his wife Roberta of Pacific Junction; sister Dixie Fritz and her husband Tom of New Market, Iowa; brothers Harry Kuhl and his wife Deanna of Glenwood, Iowa and Tim Kuhl and his wife Karla of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
