November 30, -0001

Charles Laverne Wilson, the only child of Lucy Alice (Hyme) and Charlie Monroe Wilson, was born near Old Pacific, Iowa on September 9, 1907. Charles grew up on his parents' farm between Malvern and Tabor, Iowa. He attended both schools and graduated from the Tabor High School in 1925. Following school, Charles joined his parents on the farm.
On June 2, 1933, Charles and Ruth C. Kier of Glenwood, Iowa were married in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. They made their first home on the farm south of Malvern and were blessed with their son, Robert. Eventually, the family settled south of Hastings, Iowa in the Strahan Community. Charles enjoyed the farm and was a hard worker during difficult times. He and Ruth were both active and supportive in 4H and school activities. In 1960, Charles and Ruth moved to Malvern where they purchased the Randerson Clothing Store. They renamed the business, Wilson's Clothing and continued to operate the store until their retirement on January 1, 1976. Charles was an active member of the Malvern Volunteer Fire Department, the Malvern Commercial Club, and enjoyed the camaraderie of the Main Street businesses. Charles also drove a school bus for many years and truly enjoyed his interaction with young people. Charles and Ruth were active members of the Malvern United Methodist Church and always enjoyed the many activities at church and in the community. Charles and Ruth had been married 65 years when Ruth died on April 18, 1998.
Charles continued to live at his home in Malvern until 2000, when he moved to Longmont, Colorado to be closer to Robert and his family. Charles enjoyed Longmont and the home he shared with other retirees.
Charles died at the Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colorado on December 18, 2004, at the age of 97 years, three months, and nine days. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruth Wilson.
