Lucille Perkins

Lucille May Perkins, one of three children of Maggie Belle (Eby) and Henry Claus Bowley, was born at her parent's home northwest of Glenwood, Iowa on May 3, 1917. Lucille grew up in the Glenwood area and attended the West Oak and Lethal country schools.
Lucille and Glen Rex Perkins of Malvern, Iowa were married on April 25, 1936 in Glenwood. They made their home in Malvern and were blessed with two sons, Ronald and Gary. Lucille worked for Swanson Foods in Malvern and was a homemaker. Glen worked for Kilmartin Seed Company, Malvern Cold Storage, and then for the Ben Breeding John Deere Company.
In 1951, the family moved to Glenwood and Glen began work at the Stander John Deere Company in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and later for the Glenwood Water Department. Lucille continued her role as a homemaker and also provided daycare for other Glenwood children. In 1959, Lucille began a 20 year position with the Glenwood Community Schools as a cook. Lucille and Glen retired in 1979.
Lucille and Glen had been married 56 years when Glen died on April 23, 1993. Lucille continued to live at her home in Glenwood. In 1998, she moved to the Malvern Village, where she enjoyed life with her many friends at her new home.
Lucille died at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on November 28, 2005 at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 25 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother, and her husband Glen Perkins.
Lucille is survived by her sister Dorothy Kahl of the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs; sons Ronald Perkins and his wife Linda, and Gary Perkins and his wife JoAnna, all of Malvern; grandchildren Barry Perkins and his wife Verlee of Panora, IA, Darcy Perkins and his wife Jane of Avoca, NE, Spencer Perkins and his wife Elizabeth of Gainesville, FL, Benjamin Perkins and his wife Nichole of Woodbury, MN, Jennifer Jacobson of West Des Moines, IA, and Joshua Perkins of Corona Del Mar, CA; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
