Joseph Lee Morrison, son of Charles Lee Morrison and Elizabeth (Hurts) Morrison, was born at San Jose, CA on September 28, 1944. The family soon moved to Missouri and to South Dakota. Joe's father was constantly moving his family so Joe attended school wherever the family lived. He entered the U. S. Army and briefly served in Korea. Joe was employed as a truck driver.
He eventually settled in Hastings, IA and soon met Shelly Longcor. Joe and Shelly eventually married and made their home in Hastings. Joe became a father to Shelly's son, Myles, and their marriage was blessed with a son, Lee.
Joe's greatest pleasure was being with his family and friends. He was a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club and enjoyed the companion- ship of "Goldie", his favorite birddog. Joe was also a member of the Pony Express Riders of Iowa.
Joe was diagnosed with cancer, forcing him to retire in 2002. He remained at home where his family and Hospice cared for him. Joe died at his home on June 5, 2006 at the age of 61 years, 8 months, and 7 days.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Shelly of Hastings; their sons Myles Longcor of Red Oak, IA and Lee Morrison of Hastings; Joe's children Bucky Rose and his wife Tuesday of Hepburn, IA, Connie Moore and her husband Rich of Columbus, OH and Joseph W. Morrison and his wife Shelly also of Columbus; several grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and Adam Hay, an unofficial adopted son, of Ft. Gordon, GA.

"Shelly & Lee,
So sorry to hear of your loss. But he had suffered from this disease long enough. I know how difficult it has been for both of you. I know because of all the extra time that you took care of him that it will leave a big emptiness in your lives. This happened to my family both when my grandpa died in 1992 and then my grandma died in 2003. But fill that extra time with being together this summer. Go to the park, take the puppies for a walk, have a picnic outside - just enjoy life together - Mom and Son! Come over and visit us sometime and see the Pug Boys & Hope. Lee always wanted to do that!!"
