Loren Lundy

Loren Stephen Lundy, one of nine children of Stephen Henry Lundy and Viola Mae (Cooper) Lundy, was born August 6, 1925 at Percival, Iowa. Loren left school at an early age to help his family farm. In 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Loren became an airplane and engine mechanic serving during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific and Philippine War Theaters.
Loren and Betty Jean Howard of Malvern, Iowa were married at Glenwood, Iowa on December 11, 1948 and established their home in Glenwood. Their marriage was blessed with five daughters, Sandra Jo, Gail Lynn, Lorraine Mae, Karen Jean, and Wendy Marie.
Loren began a 36 year career as a truck driver working for Watson Brothers Trucking and other area companies. He was chosen to represent his fellow truckers when he served as Steward for Teamsters Union Local 554. A back injury forced Loren to retire from truck driving in 1985. Loren and Betty later moved to Arkansas.
Loren enjoyed riding 4-wheelers and owning antique John Deere tractors. He was an avid gardener, loved hunting and fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was a Lifetime Member of the Lepert Woleven V.F.W. Post No. 2543 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
Loren and Betty had been married for 57 years when Loren died at Northwest Medical Center in Benton County, Arkansas on September 22, 2006. He had attained the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 16 days.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Glenn Lundy and Marvin Lundy. He is survived by his wife Betty Lundy of Gravette, AR; daughters Sandra Lehnert and husband Gary of Yutan, NE, Gail Herling and husband Gary of Gravette, AR, Lorraine Hastie and husband Duane of Glenwood, IA, Karen Dorsey and husband William of Springdale, AR, and Wendy Nelson and husband Dave of Bellevue, NE; brothers Robert Lundy and wife Jerri of California, Duane Lundy and wife Doris of Fremont, NE, William Lundy and wife Peggy of Florida, James Lundy and wife Ruth of Glenwood, IA and Darrell Lundy and wife Sherry of Pacific Junction, IA; sisters Lois Reeves of Glenwood, IA, Helen Bomer of Glenwood, IA, and Linda Moyer and husband Wayne of Riverton, IA; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Helen Rasmussen of Council Bluffs, IA and Thelma Howard of Malvern, IA.
