In loving memory of

Charles J. Heitman III
February 2, 2008

Charles John Heitman III, one of six children of Margery Joan (Burns) Hutchison and Charles John Heitman, Jr., was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 8, 1953. Charlie grew up near Council Bluffs in the Lewis Township neighborhood. He was baptized and later confirmed at St. Paul's Evangelical Country Church. Charlie attended Lewis Central Schools where he graduated in 1971.

Following school, Charlie studied to be an electrician at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. He left school however, when he was hired as a heavy equipment operator for Pottawattamie County and later in Mills County, Iowa. Charlie and Giselle Roenfeld were married in December of 1976 and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Paul and Douglas.

In 1995, Charlie moved to Glenwood, Iowa. He and Nancy Mills were married in June of 1996, and Nancy's daughters, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Elizabeth joined Charlie's family. Charlie loved riding his motorcycle and enjoyed hunting and cooking. He grew up singing with his brother and sisters and would join in with them as they sang at family get-togethers.

Charlie worked for several area businesses, hauling and operating heavy equipment. In January 2008, he was excited to start his new job for WHC, Inc. and was working at a job site south of Glenwood when he became trapped by a piece of equipment. Charlie was transported by medical helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where he died on February 2, 2008, at the age of 54 years, 9 months, and 24 days.
