"My condolences to Dave & Randy on the lose of their brother. I remember Rick well and fondly from both Wales Lincoln & Nishna Valley school days. I wish to provide you with a poem that perhaps provides some perspective as you struggle to understand. Jerry & Cindy Mabary I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says; ??There, she is gone!? Gone here? Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: ??There, she is gone!? there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: ??Here she comes!? And that is dying Henry Van Dyke "

" Was so sorry to hear about Rick's passing. We went to Wales together and had loss touch til lately. We talk about the "good old days" when I stopped by the station in Emerson. Really enjoyed those visits. Know he will be greatly missed by family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Ruth Anne (Nelson) Dawson"

"I am sorry to hear about Rick. Some of my fondest and most cherished memories of living in southwest Iowa for over three decades are of the times spent hunting with Rick. I am glad to have shared many happy days afield with him. I am also happy that he is being laid to rest in Farm Creek Cemetery - a spot so close to the "home place" and near the land he so dearly loved. May you rest in peace old friend. Sincerely, Bill Bone "

"To the Family of Rick Morris: I was saddened to hear of Rick's passing. I had not seen nor heard about him since high school, but I certainly remember him well as a team mate on our Nishna Valley football team from the mid-sixties. My sympathies to all of you, his family.
