Cecil Max Scott, one of five sons of Berniece Maude (Rounds) Scott and Richard Ford Scott, was born in Macedonia, Iowa on January 27, 1931. Max grew up on the family farm near Macedonia and was one of only four boys in the graduating class of 1948. Following school, Max farmed with his father and brothers until joining the United States Army. He served as a Sergeant in the Motor Pool and always had the fastest jeep on the base.
Following the service, Max returned to Macedonia where he loved farming with his family. He was a morning person who always whistled, and to his family, he was known as Mac. He was a member of the Ruby Masonic Lodge No. 415 and the Macedonia Fire Department. Max along with his brother Richard, and friends Red Houser and Tom McCready, always had some "project" in the works. Together they owned an airplane and maintained an airstrip on the farm. They also shared many adventures together and loved to fish, snowmobile, and tinker on projects over the winter months.
On October 4, 1990, Max and Marilyn Martha (Schroeder) Colman were married at the Macedonia United Methodist Church. They made their home in town and Max enjoyed being a husband and step father to Marilyn's children. He was an active community supporter and served two terms on the Macedonia City Council. In 2003, the Coral Masonic Lodge of Carson recognized Max as a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge.

"To the family of Max: my dad loved to joke with Max whether it was our at John Deere or at the Legion meetings and was always talking about doing something to him. I remember growing up Max drove this green pick-up and a bunch of us kids would sit on the loafers bench and wait for him to come to town. Marilyn, you were blessed to have him a part of your life. To the Scott brothers and in-laws, I know you will miss him dearly. May he be still driving his John Deere tractor in heaven!! With my deepest sympathy."

"Marilyn,
Max was like a dad and grandpa to our family. He shared his knowledge of farming the land he loved and passed that on to the next generation. His advice to our boys, although not always welcomed, was taken to heart. He will forever be a part of us and we will miss him dearly.
Our love to you,
Lowell, Deb, Cody, Brad, Jessica, and Caden Forristall
