Mabel Genevieve (Archer) Fleming went to her heavenly home on Monday, October 13, 2008, at the age of 91 years, 7 months, and 15 days. She resided at Glen Haven Home in Glenwood, Iowa.
Genevieve was the second of seven children born to Ephrem Andrew and Jerusha Reynolds (Huffman) Archer in Pansy, Missouri on February 28, 1917. She moved at age nine to Shenandoah, Iowa, and later graduated from Strahan, Iowa High School in 1935.
On October 11, 1936, Genevieve married Adrian Daryl "Short" Fleming in Strahan. The couple was blessed with four daughters, Janet Claire, Vivian Marie, Ann Elaine, and Shirley April.

Jennie and Short were married for 67 years before his death in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Ellen Archer and Bonnie McCoy, and her three brothers, Stanley, Russell and Ronnie Archer.

"Jenny Although I knew you less than a year, you had a big impact on my life and the way I looked at things. You were always full of life, spirit and spunk and that is how I want to be "when I grow up" even though I am over 40 you always called me little one, or little girl or kid. You made me laugh and smile and I looked forward to seeing you each day. I am being self centered when I say I did not want you to go, because that is what I wanted and not what was best for you. Please forgive me for wanting to keep you here. I will think of you often and the fun you had and made sure others had fun to. When I look up into the sky tonight I will see you in the twinkling stars and know that you are still keeping an eye on all of us. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with me and for helping me see joy everyday. Go with God and God Bless you. To the Family... Jenny was a wonderful person who reminded me that life is definately what you make of it. We talked for hours about her family and her life experiences. May God help you through this difficult time and I would ask of you what Jenny asked of me.. that is to smile at least one time a day and to also make someone else smile at least once a day. Thank you for sharing her with me. I feel honored to have met and to have cared for her. She made activities fun at Glen Haven and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please do not hesitiate to call if you need anything. God BLess--Judy Ring"
