Edwin Paul Shaw, one of three children of Leota Mae (Colling) Shaw and Alfred Paul Shaw, was born on October 28, 1918, at his parent's home near Hastings, Iowa. Paul grew up in Hastings and attended the Strahan Consolidated School. Following school, he continued to farm the family farm.
Paul and Annella Waller were married in 1940 and were blessed with two sons, Larry Paul and Richard Alan. Annella passed away in 1970. Paul was a member of the Emerson Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Emerson Masonic Lodge.
Paul and Betty Jane (McCracken) Hurt were married on September 14, 1970 and lived most of their married life in Red Oak.
Paul passed away at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak on November 3, 2008 at the age of 90 years and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Annella Shaw; sons, Larry Shaw and Richard Shaw; sister Kathryn Curtis; and brother Roger Shaw.
Paul is survived by his wife Betty Shaw of Red Oak, IA; her children, Dineal Olsen and husband Charles of Omaha, NE, Jerry Hurt and wife Linda of Plattsburg, MO, Randall Hurt and wife Debra of Hannibal, MO, Dwaine Hurt and wife Pamela of Red Oak, and Dale Hurt of Lee's Summit, MO; brother-in-law Lowell Curtis of Malvern, AR; sister-in-law Rose Marie Shaw of Red Oak; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Per the wishes of Paul, private services were held.
Memorials suggested to Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.
