Dolphis Odom

Dolphis Jay Odom, one of ten children of Lula Birtha (Whitfield) Odom and Walter Biggie Odom, was born in Phil Campbell, Alabama on November 17, 1935. When Dolphis was a child, his family moved to Marked Tree, Arkansas where he attended country school until moving to DeKalb, Illinois. In DeKalb, he worked as a painter at Commerical Body and later worked on the production line at the Neering Wire Company, where he retired in 1996.

Dolphis enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. In 2004, he moved from his home in DeKalb to Houston, Texas to be closer to his son Bobby. In October of 2006, Union Pacific transferred Bobby to Omaha, Nebraska and Dolphis moved to Glenwood, Iowa along with Bobby's family.

Dolphis died at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on November 27, 2008 at the age of 73 years and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mildred Browder, Mary Browder, and Willie Mae Vaughn; and brothers Gene Odom, Lewis Odom, and Tunie Odom.

Dolphis is survived by his daughter Annette Odom of Austin, AR; sons Bobby Odom and his wife Karen of Glenwood, IA, Alan Odom and his wife Christal of Ward, AR, and Frank Odom of North Little Rock, AR; sister Judy Anderson and her husband Tom of DeKalb, Il; brothers Billy Odom and his wife Cathy of Bettendorf, IA, and M.C. Odom of Arlington, TX; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
