January 28, 2009

Gayle Arthur Weaver, one of seven children of Phoebe Charlotte (Jones) and William Oliver Weaver, was born on March 22, 1927 in Lockheed, Missouri. He lived in Lebanon, Missouri until he was eight years old, and then he and his family moved to Oakland, Iowa. Gayle was baptized at the Christian Church in Oakland. He attended school in Oakland through the 11th grade and then at age 18, began his career as an over-the-road truck driver for the next 40 years. He first hauled livestock to Omaha, Nebraska and the surrounding area and then on to Chicago. Gayle also did carpentry work for several years before getting his own rig.

Gayle married Jo Anne Forristall in Glenwood, Iowa on July 4, 1953, which was also the day of her parent's wedding anniversary. Gayle and Jo Anne made their home in Oakland, and their marriage was blessed with two sons, William Paul, born on December 14, 1955 and Steven Gayle, born on February 22, 1958.

In 1972, Gayle got brave and taught Jo Anne to drive the truck. He had a little trouble letting her do it her way, but she made it! The couple drove coast to coast for 18 yrs. The Lord was their co-pilot, always watching over them as they drove into the big cities.

In 1973, Gayle and Jo Anne moved to Denver, Colorado. They became members of the Highland Baptist Church in Denver. Gayle enjoyed time with his family. He loved to fish and enjoyed taking his granddaughters with him.

Gayle passed away peacefully on January 28th, 2009 at WoodRidge Terrace in Commerce City, Colorado. He had attained the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Phoebe "Lottie" Weaver; brothers, Wayne Weaver, Wendell Weaver, Bobby Weaver and Norman Weaver; and sisters, Leone McKee and Winona McKee.
