Dean R. Score, age 77 of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away at the Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 2, 2009.

Dean Robert Score, one of six children of Agnes Anna (Knowles) and William Albert Score, was born in Petersburg, Nebraska on July 14, 1932. Dean grew up working on the family farm and attended country school. At 18, Dean moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he worked at the packing house and in car dealerships. Dean and Eleanor Fitzpatrick were married in 1955. They made their home in Glenwood, Iowa and were blessed with two children, Kenneth and LaDonna. The couple later divorced. Dean's work included working for John Sprague at the Skelly gas station and at the Reed Farm Equipment store. In 1962, Dean began delivering milk for Robert's Dairy in Glenwood and to the surrounding communities for 10 years. In 1972, Dean began driving for Trans-Con Freight Company and was a member of the Teamsters Union of the Central States.

On December 9, 1979, Dean and Francene Marie (Chambers) Lutter were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah for eight years before returning to Glenwood. In 1987, Dean retired from trucking, but began working at Gib Walter Motors and Allen Christensen Hardware. Dean suffered a stroke in 1996, but was able to work in the auto department at Wal-Mart, until his heart attack in 2001 forced him to retire. Dean was great with people and loved to visit and talk with everyone.

Dean and Francene had been married almost 30 years when Dean died at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 2, 2009. He had attained the age of 77 years, 1 month, and 18 days.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Gary Score and brother, Francis "Bud" Score; twin sister, Donna Thompson; sister-in-law, Betty Harless and her husband Bob, and brother-in-law Dale Logan.

Dean is survived by his wife, Francene Score of Glenwood; son, Ken Score and wife Kim of Collinsville, OK; daughter, LaDonna Crumpton and husband Adrian of Spring, TX; grandsons, Chris Score, Nick Score, and Curtis Fuoss and his wife Michelle; stepchildren, Cathy Taysen and husband Tim of Bellevue, NE, Norman Lutter of Omaha, NE, and Dan Lutter and wife Mary of Carson City, NV; step grandchildren, Michael and Katie; sister, Jean Logan of Valinda, CA; brother, LaVern Score and wife Patti of Albion, NE; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Killion of Omaha and Jeanie Pevehouse of Glenwood; brothers-in-law, Don Thompson of Albion, NE, Bob "Jack" Chambers and wife Barbara of Essex, IA, and Mike Chambers and wife Pam of Clarinda, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial fund has been established.

Interment in the Glenwood Cemetery.

"We are so sorry to hear of Dean's passing. We were only neighbors for a year but we thought a lot of Dean, such a kind man. Our girls just loved visiting with him outside. He will most definitely be missed by many. Just wanted to let you know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this hard time. "
