David Chappell, age 47 of Griswold, IA, died at his home on September 4, 2009.

David Scott Chappell, one of four children of Dorothy Jean (Wilson) Chappell and Roy Julian Chappell, was born on June 26, 1962 in Omaha, Nebraska. David grew up in Omaha and graduated from Central High School in 1980. Following school, he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he studied computer programming. David spent most of his career as a computer programmer working for what eventually became known as Dex Media in Omaha.

David and Michaele June Cody were married at the United Methodist Church in Carson, Iowa on June 5, 2004. David built the couple's home east of Carson. He loved nature and the home's country setting was ideal. He also built a "luxury house" for the dogs he loved so much, Mandy and Ralphy. David enjoyed watching all wildlife, especially the deer and pheasants around their home. He was a photographer, loved music, and enjoyed being on his work's bowling league. David's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.

David and Michaele had been married five years when David died at their home on September 4, 2009, at the age of 47 years, 2 months, and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Chappell.

David is survived by his wife Michaele of Griswold; mother Dorothy Jean Chappell of Omaha; sisters, Terri Chappell and Kris Chappell of Omaha, and Barbara Chappell and husband Adrian Acebedo of Luna Pier, MI; nephew Marc Chappell and friend Susan Stessman, and nieces Kaci and Lisi Chappell, all of Omaha; Michaele's parents, Francis and Marilyn Cody of Griswold, IA and her grandparents, Leslie and Elva Mullins of Paton, IA; brothers-in-law, Rich Cody and wife Ann of Griswold and their children, Justin Cody and wife Megan of Carson, Jesse Cody of Council Bluffs, IA, and John Cody and fiancée Taylor Haines of Oakland, IA; Ron Cody of Griswold; Randy Cody and wife Lynn and their children, Becca and Sarah of Carson; other relatives and many friends.
