Norma Jean Rountree

Norma Jean Rountree, one of five children of Mary Minnie (Dueman) and Walter James Cozad, was born on April 6, 1935 in Malvern, Iowa. She grew up in Malvern where she attended school until starting work at the Henningsen Egg Plant.

Norma and Charles Andrew Rountree were married on February 9, 1955 in Glenwood, Iowa. They made their home in Cheyenne, Wyoming and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Bonnie and Janette. Charles worked for the oil industry and the family lived in several communities in Oregon and Iowa before returning to Glenwood in 1970.

Norma enjoyed bird watching, gardening, embroidering, cleaning and baking. She loved being a homemaker and mother, caring for her family, and enjoyed time with her grandchildren.

Norma and Charles were married 55 years, when Norma passed away at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 1, 2010, at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 26 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Harold Cozad; sisters, Eva Gregg and Deloris Hascall; and great grandson Tayte Compton.

Norma is survived by her husband Charles Rountree of Glenwood; daughters, Bonnie Rockwell and husband Byron of Bellevue, NE, and Janette Rountree of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Mindy Compton and husband Robert of Bellevue, Joseph Rockwell of Bellevue, and Anthony Rockwell and Heather Peterson of Glenwood, and Jessica Beall of Council Bluffs; four great grandchildren; sister Alice Parker of Houston, TX; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
