In loving memory of

Catherine M. (Goos) Agans
October 4, 2010

Catherine Marcelle Agans, one of three children of Grover Lawrence Goos and Grace Courtney (Kehoe) Goos, was born at her parent's farm home near Silver City, Iowa on June 30, 1926. Catherine grew up and attended school in Silver City and graduated from Silver City High School in 1946. Catherine loved living on the farm and always took pride in being a farmer's daughter. She remained on the farm helping her parents until her mother died in 1959 and her father's death in 1980. Catherine then moved into Silver City, where she met her next door neighbor and future husband. Catherine and Gerald Henry Phillip Agans were married on November 21, 1982, and made their home in Silver City. She was a loving and caring wife and took great pride in her marriage.

Catherine was a faithful and long time member of the Silver City United Methodist Church and the Silver City Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Silver City High School Alumni and in her younger years, a member of the Loyal Lassies 4-H Club. These organizations were important to Catherine, both socially and spiritually. She was a compassionate person with a strong belief in God, and a faith to help her overcome and bravely face her problems. The person she most revered and respected was her big brother Marvin, who was always there to help her from childhood throughout her life. Her leisure time enjoyment was reading and her favorites included the Reader's Digest Books. She loved her dogs and cats, polka music and faithfully listened to KMA Radio.

Catherine and Gerald and had been married 13 years at the time of his death in December 1995. As her health began to fail, Catherine moved to the Ambassador Nursing Home in Sidney, Iowa, where she continued to develop new friendships with the residents and staff. On October 3, 2010, Catherine was admitted to Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa where she passed away on October 4, 2010. She had attained the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 4 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Wayne Goos; husband Gerald Agans; and sister-in-law Geraldine Goos.

Catherine is survived by her brother Marvin Goos and companion Juanita Sanders of Glenwood, Iowa; nephews, Neil Goos and wife Linda of Glenwood, Jim Goos and wife Judy, and Jeff Goos and wife Diana, all of Silver City; great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
