"Miss you aunt barb and I love you. "
Barbara M. Goble, one of five children of Merle Keith Goble and Olive Luree (Ross) Goble, was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska on April 19, 1926. Barbara grew up in Omaha where she attended Casterlar and Vinton High Schools. Following school, Barbara and friend, Arthur McCowan, traveled to Minnesota where Barbara worked as a cook. In 1953, the couple were married and in 1959 moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. They later divorced.
Barbara enjoyed caring for her home and also worked in Home Healthcare. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed playing bingo, watching football, crocheting, and visiting the casinos.
In 2007, Barbara moved to the Lutheran Home in Omaha, Nebraska, where she died on November 26, 2010, at the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Merle Christensen, Dorothy Currin, and Audrey Bassett; and brother, William "Bill" Goble.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
"Miss you aunt barb and I love you. "
"Barbara you were the first person that i truly became friends with at the Lutheran Home and since you have left us there has been none who could compare. Even today, I miss you by my side telling me your many stories or just silently keeping me company as the hours passed. I will always remember you and I want to thank you for being such an amazing woman. "
"A note to you Aunt Barb, Always, always my mind flashes back to when I was a young child and you would appear at my home in Ky. I thought you very beautiful and funny. I love you Aunt Barb and will miss you!"
"As Diane Goble's husband of 27 years, I've had several occasions to interact with "Aunt Barb." My first impression--and a lasting one--was she carried herself like a lady...even when issues had her pretty much beaten down. In my first book (The Last Heavyweight) my dedication was to her, not one of a gaggle of lifetime relatives. In the dedication it's mentioned all the ways she was always a lady--from despondence over issues from betrayal to theft of her small pension monies. And now, she's a lady. She liked watching sports, and could get downright hostile to a screen character after a couple of wine coolers. Barb was an artist at taking bits and pieces of left-over foods and creating a decent meal. I knew her less than most of her crew, but I feel like I miss her the most. That's not to be rude...just how I feel. Dennis "

"It is hard on all the family right now mourning the loss of our Aunt Barbara. I will cherish the wnderful memories she has given me. Aunt Barb was an unforgetable person. She had a presence about her and when she was in the group you knew she was there. She was strong, full of life and lets just say, feisty and fun. She had a special relationship unique to each of us. Caring and loving. I know that there is a GREAT family reunion going on in heaven right now! I love you Aunt Barb and will miss you. Would you please give Mom and Dad and Kathy a big hug for me and let them know how much I miss them too. Love, forever Diane."
