Roberta Marie Morris, one of six children of Elizabeth Ann (Carmack) and Otis Samuel Pendegraft, was born on September 11, 1920 on a farm near Oakland, Iowa. Later, the family moved to a farm near Macedonia, Iowa and Roberta graduated from Macedonia High School in 1938.
Roberta and Jake David Morris were married on January 1, 1940 at the Christian Church Parsonage in Oakland. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Lou Ann, Barbara Lee, Virgil David, Richard Dennis, and Randall Otis. They farmed near the communities of Henderson and Wales, Iowa until moving to live in Emerson, Iowa in 1984.
Roberta was a member of the Henderson Christian Church. She enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. Roberta loved sewing, quilting, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and loved "spoiling" her grandkids. Roberta was a loving and caring person.
Roberta and Jake were married 53 years when Jake passed away on April 8, 1993 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Roberta passed away at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa on January 18, 2012, at the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jake Morris; daughter Lou Ann Stensvad; son Rick Morris; granddaughter Amanda Morris; sister Phyllis Sonderup; and brother James Pendegraft.
Roberta is survived by her daughter Barbara Brown of Council Bluffs, IA; sons, David Morris and wife Dortha of McCook, NE, and Randy Morris and wife Leslie of Waverly, IA; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Alice Allensworth of Red Oak, and Mavis McDuffie of Omaha, NE; brother Donald Pendegraft of Creston, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
