LUCILLE 'LELA' GUNDRUM
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Lucille 'Lela' Gundrum, 100, of Muscatine, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at All-American Care Center.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the St. Mathias Church, 215 West Eighth Street. The Reverend Jason Crossen will officiate the service. A funeral luncheon will be held at Gannon Hall immediately following the mass. Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the church. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Carol Gundrum. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
'Lela' was born on January 16, 1912, in Burlington, the daughter of Tom and Bessie Strabula Kneer. She married Albert Gundrum on September 29, 1930, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1981.
In her earlier years, she worked for HJ Heinz Company.
She was a member of the SS. Mary and Mathias Parish.
She loved gardening, fishing, and bird watching.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Neal Gundrum and wife, Rosa, Larry Gundrum and wife, Leona, Carol Gundrum, and Helen Moore and husband, Jim, all of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 18 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Ted Kneer and Jack Kneer; and one sister, Helen Brookhart.
