Carl Fulk
August 14, 1949 - April 8, 2008

Carl Fulk age 58 a longtime Slater resident died Tuesday April 8, 2008 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. A Visitation will be 6:00 -- 9:00 pm Friday April 11, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater with a 10:30 am Funeral Service on Saturday, April 12 at the Church. Burial will be at the Bethlehem Church Cemetery in Slater.
Carl was born August 14, 1949 in Charles City, Iowa the son of Orie and Betty (Shannon) Fulk. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1967. He enlisted in 1967 into the US Marines Corp until 1971 during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Diane Houser on Nov. 28, in 1969 in Rockford, Iowa. In 1976 he graduated from Iowa State University. He then owned and operated Peterbilts for the next 20 years before entering Wartburg Theological Seminary where he received his Masters of Theology in 1999.
Carl enjoyed many things in his life. Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Dept. of Iowa Vice Commander, Civil War reenacting; as a Sadler, Chaplin and a member of the 32nd Iowa Infantry, American Legion of Slater, Disabled American Veterans, VFW, Riding Harley Davidsons, Prison Ministry - Via de Cristo, Participating with tractor rides on Farmall's, Tennessee Walker Horses, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, Family and Friends. Carl was the recipient of the Gift of Life through kidney transplants and has worked with Iowa Donor Network.
Carl is survived by his wife Diane of Slater sons, Edward Fulk and Fiance' Kathy McMullen both of Ames, Jacob Fulk of Washington, and a daughter Angela (Kevin) Ott of Slater, his mother Betty Fulk of Rockford, a sister Marlys Rentz of Stewartville, MN and brother, Lynn Fulk of Hawaii, four grandchildren Johnathon and Elizabeth Fulk, and Micah and Ayla Ott.
Carl was preceded in death by his father Orie and daughter Rebecca.
Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
