Naoma "Toni" Lorraine Shaffer
September 11, 1936 - June 28, 2007

Naoma Lorraine "Toni" Shaffer, 70, of Ames, died Thursday, June 28, at her home with her family present. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at First United Methodist Church in Ames.
Naoma Lorraine "Toni" Shaffer was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Omaha, Neb., to Carl and LeEtta (Foderberg) Bryner. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs in 1954. She married Daniel F. Shaffer March 1, 1956, in Lincoln Neb. The couple moved to Ames from Council Bluffs in February 1962.
She enjoyed many things through the years such as camping and boating. She especially loved spending time with family.
She ran an in-home daycare for several years, allowing her to be home with her six children. She then worked as a secretary for the College of Business at Iowa State University for approximately 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel, of Ames; two sons, William (Amy), of Maplewood, Minn., and Robert, of Ames; four daughters, Danetta Hiatt, of Ames, Lorraine "Lorri" (Dan) Robinson, of rural Boone County, Sonja (Steve) Stephan, of Ames, and Lisa (Mike) Long, of Ames; one stepson, Daniel (Cindy) Lidgett, of Council Bluffs; 14 grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Seth Long and David Lidgett; one granddaughter, Bethany Lidgett; one son-in-law, Robert Lidgett; and two stepchildren, Cathy George and David Lidgett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, at First United Methodist Church in Ames.

Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 292-2273, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
