Thornton Dean Elliott
July 6, 1928 - July 25, 2012

Thornton Dean Elliott age 84, died at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A gathering of family and friends visitation will be one hour before a 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service Friday July 27, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames with inurnment at a later date at Story Memorial Garden in Ames.
Thornton was born in Kansas City, MO to Reuben and Edith (Keller) Elliott. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Margaret Spencer on March 13, 1948 in Cole Camp, MO and she preceded his death in 2009. He worked at the National Animal Disease Center of Ames, IA as a Systems Forman for 30 years until he retired in 1988. He was a member of the Westside Church of Christ and the American Legion.
He survived by his children; Gail Elliott of Windsor, CO, Linda (Wayne) Karstens of Indianola, IA , Roger (Anita) Elliott of Ames, IA, Stanley (Joyce) Elliott of Nevada, IA, David Elliott of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Gary (Michelle) Elliott of Huxley, IA, 24 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Margaret Elliott.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House.

Your folks never seemed to mind us being around. Remember all the times your dad would drive us to roller skate in Ogden? He rarely spoke...but when he did we listened!!"
