SPRINGFIELD, Illinois--Nicholas Mark Reeves, 25, a former resident of Muscatine, died suddenly Thursday, July 26, 2012.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Holy Family Catholic Church at 309 N. Springfield Road in Athens, Illinois. Msgr. Carl Kemme will officiate the service and Fr. James Palakudy will concelebrate. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Petersburg.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund set up for Noah Reeves at National Bank of Petersburg in Petersburg, Illiniois. Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is assisting the family.

Nick was born on January 21, 1987, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Mark Reeves and Lisa Bryan Reeves.

Nick was given a second chance after his heart attack in 2006 followed by a heart transplant in 2008.

He was an important part of Reeves Properties, owned by his father, Mark. Nick was devoted to his son, Noah, and fiancée, Meghan Trissel. He will be remembered for his great laugh, joy of life, and desire to help others who needed his assistance. His innate mechanical skills were second to none and his interests included anything with a motor.

He is survived by his son, Noah; his fiancée, Meghan Trissel, both of Tallula; his mother, Lisa Reeves of Springfield; his father, Mark Reeves and wife, Tanya, of Springfield; a brother, Jacob Reeves of Muscatine; a step-sister, Vlada Gudzenko; his maternal grandmother, Mary Long of Muscatine; two nieces, Caitlin and Alexis Reeves, and a nephew, Colton Reeves, all of Muscatine; and a special friend, Larry Small of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Megan Reeves; his maternal grandfathers, Barnie Bryan and Robert Long; and his paternal grandparents, Ernest and Elizabeth Reeves.
