Wayne M Meyers
May 1, 1920 - September 18, 2012

Wayne Maurice Meyers was born on May 1, 1920 in Yorktown, Iowa, the son of William H. and Ruth (Mace) Meyers. Wayne entered into eternal peace on Tuesday morning, September 18, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Wayne's early years were spent in the community of Yorktown. He was a 1938 graduate of Coin High School. On November 11, 1939 he was united in marriage to his best friend and lifelong companion, Betty Cass in Grand Island, Nebraska. During their marriage they resided in Shenandoah, Iowa, McAllen, Texas, Mesa, Arizona and Council Bluffs, Iowa. They enjoyed their summer home in Okoboji, Iowa.

In 1942 Wayne enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. Wayne worked for Paxton and Gallagher and as a salesman for Wright and Wihelmy in Omaha, Nebraska for 35 years. He enjoyed his work and visiting with his clients.

He was a member of the Shenandoah American Legion, was a member of the Shenandoah United Methodist Church and served on the board at the Shenandoah American Legion Country Club. Some of his hobbies included golfing, woodworking, and playing bridge with their "Saturday Night" bridge club.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother Richard; sister Phyllis Goecker; son Bill Meyers; and his devoted wife of 72 years, Betty.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Marci Ludington and husband Charlie of Council Bluffs; grandsons Luke Martin and wife Amber and their children Kylie, Tanner and Hunter of LeMars, IA; Seth Martin of Council Bluffs, Ryan Ludington and wife Jodi and their children Chloe, Payton and Eli of Council Bluffs and Michael Ludington and Shannon Ballinger of Glenwood; sister Sharon Holt and husband Dick of Tibbetts, MO; brother-in-law Gene Goecker of Clarinda; and sister-in-law Pat Pimental and husband Don of Pinedale, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
