"I'm really shocked this guy is gone! I was with John on the USS ENTERPRISE CVN 65 from 76-78 and this guy was the absolute BEST Boatswain Mate sailor I've ever seen in my 20 years. He would be, as an E-3 running Refueling at Sea (RAS) rigs like nobody's business! For you BMs you know exactly what I'm talking about! I'm talking about sending fuel, not receiving, as the Enterprise did not have an Oiler's capabilities. This guy was off the charts awesome! God Bless you John and it was an absolute pleasure knowing you. The other four deck divisions was constantly trying to finagle John away from 3rd Division and that is no exaggeration! He was that good! BM2 Wayne Arthur"

"John was the only Dad I ever had. All the good parts of me came from him. John was my superman there was never a problem I had that he couldn't fix and took the time to teach me to do so myself. With John it wasn't about the task at hand he just wanted to spend time together. I have a million good memories I will always keep close to my heart. So Until we meet again John I love you. Yours son Joshua"
