Carl Fritz Simon
August 29, 1917 - November 15, 2012

Carl Fritz Simon, of Antigo, died Thursday, November 15, 2012. He was 95 years old. Mr. Simon was born on August 29, 1917 in the Town of Summit, a son of the late Conrad and Mathilda (Weisshahn) Simon. On September 6, 1941 he married Edith "Nan" Walker at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Summit. They enjoyed almost 63 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2004.

He graduated in 1931 from Sunnny Slope School in the Town of Summit and worded as a truck driver, milk hauler, logger, farmer, and school bus driver. He then worked at Kretz Lumber Company and at the Langlade County Highway Department as a Grader Operator for 16 years, retiring in 1978.

Mr. Simon was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Deerbrook, and served as secretary of the Men's Club, treasurer of the congregation, and was the Lutheran Church Extension Fund representative for many years. He was also the Town of Vilas treasurer from 1950-1963.

Mr. Simon is survived by two daughters, Carnan Simon, Antigo and Alice (Joe) Zuelsdorff, Merrill; three sons, Donald (Rita), Antigo, Jerome, Hartland and Kenneth (Karen), Kellnersville; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three daughters-in-law, Kay Simon, Florida, Barbara Simon, Texas and Bev (Simon) Bostwick and her husband, Ray, Bryant; two sisters, Helen (Earl) Kressel and Dorothy Koprek, both of Gleason; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Simon, Gleason.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three sons, Ronald, Roger and Conrad; a son-in-law, Lawrence Nelson; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Simon; two brothers, Paul and Henry; a brother-in-law, William Koprek; a sister-in-law, Norine Simon; and a sister, Ruth, in infancy.

A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Rev. Jerome Hahn officiating. Burial will take place in the town of Summit Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Monday from 10 a.m.until the time of services at the church
