Gail A. Kamps
September 16, 1937 - December 17, 2012

Gail A Kamps, of Phlox, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Langlade Hospital. She was 75 years old. She was born on September 16, 1937 in West Allis, a daughter of George and Lola Schlais. She married Eugene Kamps on November 28, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox. He survives.

She was a graduate of Mattoon High School with the class of 1955.
She attended Langlade County Normal School for two years. She received her bachelor of education degree from University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point.

Mrs. Kamps began her teaching career in Shawano County at Henning School,then taught for one year in Marathon County. The majority of her teaching career was with the Unified School District of Antigo teaching kindergarten classes in Mattoon and special education classes in Antigo.

Mrs. Kamps worked for LeRoyer Child Care in Antigo and for the head start program in Phlox.

She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox where she served as chairperson of the St. Anne Society. She was secretary of the Phlox Winter Knights Snowmobile and ATV club for 24 years and was a Langlade County 4-H arts and crafts leader for 30 years.

She enjoyed sewing, needle point and embroidery.

Survivors including her husband are two daughters JoAnne (Lee) Parsons, Antigo, Julie (David) Librande, Medford; six Grandchildren Jeffrey (Tammy) Parsons, Antigo, Kyle (Jessica) Parsons, Ripon, Hope (Chris) Oswald, White Bear Lake, MN, Karl, Roby and Cody Parsons all of Antigo; a great-grandchild Carl Parsons;

five sisters Judy (Bob) Buchman, Hortonville, Barb (Dennis) Cook, Chilton, Kathy (Bruce) Kiger, New London, Jackie (Dennis) Pederson, Sherwood, Jan Koeppen, Hortonville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Orland Schlais.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann and Deacon Tom Hartman officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3:30 - 8 p.m. on Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 - 9:45 a.m. on Saturday also at the funeral home.

A parish wake service will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
