Nancy Truog
December 3, 1927 - January 6, 2013

Madison-Nancy Price Truog, age 85, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013. She was born on December 3, 1927 in Madison, WI to Prof. Emil and Lucy Rayne Truog. She was a 1945 graduate of Madison West High School. She attended University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received a B.S. Degree in Home Economics-Related Art (1949). She also received a B.S. Degree from the University of Minnesota in Occupational Therapy where she received two scholarships. She worked for a number of years as a Registered Occupational Therapist at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She took graduate courses at Eastern Michigan University. She published four Picture Pages on original assistive devices in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy. She participated in five invitational art exhibits showing her original hand woven items at Rackham Galleries, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor sponsored by the Ann Arbor Art Association. She won an Award of Merit at one of these exhibits. She taught Sunday school classes at First Presbyterian Church, Ann Arbor where she was a member. She was a member of the Michigan League of Handweavers. She was active in volunteer work in Madison for a number of years. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church; American Association of University Women; Alpha Xi Delta Alumnae; American Occupational Therapy Association; University of Wisconsin Alumni Association; and University of Minnesota Alumni Association. She was also a member of the John Bell Chapter of DAR where she was a former Regent. During her term as Regent, the Eben and Rosaline Peck Memorial Marker was dedicated and installed at the Webster Street outdoor plaza area of General Executive Facilities II and III, Madison, WI. She was a member of the Midwest Weavers Conference; Madison Weavers Guild where she was a former editor of its newsletter. She was a member of the Madison Civics Club and Dane County Women's Republican Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Prof. and Mrs. Emil Truog, her brother, John Rayne (Barbara) Truog of Boscobel, her sister Martha Rayne (David) Swearingen, Mazomanie. She is survived by five nieces and one nephew; Nancy (Doyle) Lewis, Boscobel; Patricia (Ken) Saiki, Madison; Ellen Truog, Boscobel; Beth (Mark) Shortner, Mindoro; Thomas Truog, Boscobel; Martha Truog, Madison. She is also survived by two great nieces; Natalie Beeman, Boscobel; Kimberly Shortner, Onalaska; three great nephews; Christopher Shortner, Mindoro; Dartanian Beeman, LaCrosse; Boulder Beeman, Boscobel; one great great nephew; Aidren Beeman, Boscobel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
