"My sincere condolences are with you all at this sad time. I don't really remember a time in my life when I didn't know Massoud. We all adored him, and his friendship with our father and our family will always be held close in my heart. Dear Doctor: Thank you for so many fond memories, for lifelong friendship... for dubbing me 'Princess' (because Selin was the 'Queen'!), for holding my little hand as I pointed out which of mom's hor d'oeuvres contained pork, for the purse at my high school graduation, for the beautiful painted Persian leather box you gave me at my university graduation (I still keep my important things there) ... for your ophthalmoscope /otoscope when you'd retired, and I went off to study a new career in medicine -- just after my Dad had just passed away ... You were always there for us! I wish I'd had one last hug, and kiss on my forehead with your blessing, and the chance to thank you. You are loved, and touched our hearts. May you forever rest in peace."

"Never more will the wind Cherish you again, Never more will the rain. Never more Shall we find you bright In the snow and wind. The snow is melted, The snow is gone, And you are flown. Like a bird out of our hand, Like a light out of our heart, You are gone! Bon voyage, Massoud. Our thoughts are with your beloved wife, Maria, and your family. Love, Leslie and Chris Branda "

"I hold many fond memories of Dr Shahidi and his family. From a memorable family vacation to the western states as a youngster, and many ISU games with the good doctor and son Robert, to many shared family gatherings where kind words and laughs were readily exchanged. I remember dining at Chez Cristine down in campus town, and Maria's steaks on the grill were excellent. Dr Shahidi was a highly respected colleague of my father and a dear friend to all of our family. He will be missed. Thoughts are with Robert, and dear Maria, and all who held him dear. Rest in Peace, Dr. Shahidi. "
