Iven Albert Bisgard was born March 16, 1951, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Albert and Lois (Bensen) Bisgard. He was a 1969 graduate of Graettinger High School. After high school he attended Sheldon Community College of Mechanics and Technology, University of South Dakota at Springfield, South Dakota and Jackson Technical College in Jackson, Minnesota.
Iven was united in marriage to Cindy Simington on August 7th, 1976 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Iven worked for the Farmers Coop Elevator in Graettinger and Spencer Foods in Spencer, IA before working as an electrician for GKN-Armstrong Wheels in Armstrong and transferring to the Estherville plant where he was currently employed.
He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. Iven was also a former member of the Jaycees. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, woodworking, fishing, gardening and camping but nothing was more enjoyable to Iven then spending time with his two grandsons Jordan and Koda.
On Tuesday, May 13, 2009 Iven lost his battle with cancer at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife: Cindy of Graettinger; child: Lacey Saul (Mike) of Graettinger; two grandsons: Jordan and Koda Saul of Graettinger; his mother Lois Lundgren of Graettinger; a sister: LaVon Park of Graettinger; brother: Paul Bisgard (Pam) of Nashua, IA; two step-brothers: Neil Lundgren (Gayle) of Reinbeck, IA and Ted Lundgren of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert; infant-daughter Heather; father-in-law, Jerry Simington; and two brother-in-laws, James Park and Randy Simington.
