Our beloved mother, Helen Statkus, age 92, passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2009. Cherished wife of the late Albert Statkus. Adored mother of Jerry Statkus of Milwaukee, State Senator Alberta Darling (Dr. William) of Milwaukee and Franni Freeman (James) of Glencoe, IL. Loving and fun grandmother of Liza Winkeljohn (Paul) of Coral Gables, FL, Will Darling (Nancy) of Chicago, IL, Wes Statkus of Golden, CO, Nick Statkus (Erin) of Portland, OR, Peter Freeman of New York City and Emily Freeman of Glencoe, IL. Precious great grandmother of Jackson and Claire Statkus of Portland, OR and Charlie and Andie Winkeljohn of Coral Gables, FL. Devoted sister of Teresa Rizzo of Cicero, IL, and treasured aunt to several nieces and nephews.She grew up in Cicero, IL, lived in Peoria, IL and Sun City, AZ and spent her last two years at Alexian Village, Milwaukee. She lived the American dream through hard work and perseverance and left a legacy of fun and joy for life. Her energy, enthusiasm and zest for life attracted friends from all walks of life.
