Born March 10, 1939. Born to Eternal Life May 12, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by loved ones, his wife of 40 years, Judith; children Anne (Craig Mattson) and Jonathan; siblings Paul, Richard and Joan (Vern Glaser); and many other relatives and friends. For 34 years, Charles was a Professor of Art at Mount Mary College, where painting and drawing students valued his knowledge, enthusiasm and patience as he taught them "how to see." As a fine artist, Charles created paintings whose imagery, energy and vibrant color earned many awards and inspired all who saw his work. Faced with lifelong health challenges, Charles transformed pain into beauty through his art. As a devoted husband, father, mentor, and friend, he brought intelligence, kindness, humor, optimism and love to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. Memorials appreciated to Schlitz Audubon Center, Milwaukee Art Museum or the charity of your choice. Private burial at Forest Home Cemetery. Please watch for notice of a future memorial service.[more]
