Gunnar Hansen, 96, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away March 11, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Center in Hampton, Iowa. He was born on September 6, 1916, in rural Coulter, Iowa, to Hans Christian and Egidie (Pedersen) Hansen. He was united in marriage on March 15, 1940, to Verna Johansen in rural Latimer, Iowa. Gunnar farmed from 1940 to 1955, and then he moved to Latimer and owned and operated a Hansen Motor and Implement. He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter. He enjoyed his cars (rarely dirty), Iowa Hawkeyes and whatever Verna wanted to do. Gunnar is survived by his son Marshall and wife Linda of Franklin, Tennessee, daughter Norene Selles of Jackson, Mississippi, grandchildren Stephanie and husband James Tickner of Mandeville, Louisiana, Scott and wife Kim Hansen of West Des Moines, Michelle and husband Mark Meyer of Johns Creek, Georgia, Stacie and husband Bill Andrews of New Orleans, Louisiana, great grandchildren Emily, Hartwell, Ryan, Jane, Anna, Lilly, Jill, twins Ben and Ally and a sister Irma Hansen of Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.
