Mrs. Karlene Kay Lange, 73, of Burlington died at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Born April 24, 1939 in Carthage, Illinois, she was the daughter of Ervin E. and Esta E. Newman Earls. She was married to Robert Lange who preceded her in death on November 18, 2006. Mrs. Lange was a graduate of Carthage Community High School. She worked for United Air Lines in Chicago for four years before moving to Burlington to work for Meacham Travel Service and then for AAA Travel for 25 years before retiring in 2002. During that time she traveled all over the world and escorted tours and cruises. She enjoyed traveling, escorting and helping clients with their travels. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ for over 40 years where she was also the church organist for over 35 years. In addition she also served on the Church Board and was a Sunday school teacher. She had also been the organist at St. John's United Church of Christ for several years. ) Lange of Stronghurst, Illinois and Kyle Lange of West Burlington; one daughter, Holly (Ryan) Bridgham of Voluntown, Connecticut; seven grandchildren, Marissa Lange, Mia Lange, Mikayla Lange, Amanda Lange, Brandin Lange, Logan Bridgham and Gavin Bridgham; two great grandchildren, Dalton Lange and Emma Lange; five sisters, Cindy (Steve) Rohrer, Penny (Randy) Weigandt, Marcia (Dale) Johnson, Sylvia Eppley and Eleanor (Larry) Johnson; four brothers, Dan Earls, Robert (Debbie) Crear, Lyle Crear and Dean Crear; and her step mother, Bonnie Earls. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Geno Earls and Curtis Crear and sister, Lorraine McMillan. The funeral service for Mrs. Lange will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 1st, at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Dean Moberg will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service. Inurnment will be at a later date at South Cemetery, Basco, Illinois. A memorial has been established for St. Paul United Church of Christ. According to Mrs. Lange's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and Burlington Wilbert Crematory and will be accorded following the funeral service.
