Robert St. Clair

Of West Allis, found peace in the afternoon on Sunday, April 28th at the age of 89. Robert was born on December 20th, 1923 to the late Earl and Norma (nee Matthaeus) St. Clair in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Brother of the late Stephen (Mary Jo) St. Clair. Robert was the father of Jennifer (Ed Henry), Jane (John Branch), John and Jo. He was the grandfather to Kaleb Thompson and countless grand dogs. Also survived by his nephew Barry and niece Linda. Proceeded in death by his niece the late Sandra. A graduate of Wauwatosa High School, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 28th, 1942. He moved up the ranks to Lieutenant Colonel as a Bombardier and navigated 51 missions over Italy and the European Theater. Afterwards, he attended UW-Madison earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy. He went on to work as a Purchasing Manager at Rex Chain Belt, also known as Rexnord. He continued to serve his country in the Air National Guard until 1983. Robert was a member of the First Unitarian Church, Milwaukee and Unitarian Church West, Brookfield. s. In 1984 he won the Milwaukee County Senior Art Show for his drawing in markers "Tulips". One of the highlights of his later years was being able to travel on the Honor Flight in 2009 to Washington DC with his fellow World War II veterans. A grave site service with military honors will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11th, Graceland Cemetery, 6401 North 43rd Street, Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Milwaukee Art Museum.
