Walter R. Martin MUSCATINE, Iowa -Walter Russell Martin, 73, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Trinity Hospital Muscatine. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Casket Bearers will be Doug Martin, Cody Martin, Jared Horner, Justin Stanton, Jesse Gilbert, Jacob Smith and Dalton Conklin. Honorary casket bearers will be Dorsey Lane, Dean Arp, Darrell Reeves, Joshua Gatzke and Little Russell Martin. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Walter's name. Walter was born on February 20, 1940, in Muscatine, the son of Russell Walter and Beulah Neipert Martin. On September 13, 1958, Walter was united in marriage to Nancy Kay Townsend. They later divorced. He worked at Kardox as a truck driver, farmed and later retired from HON. Walter will be deeply missed by his daughter, Lori Conklin and husband, Roger, of Wilton; five grandchildren, McKenzie Gilbert, Cody Martin, Mandy Martin, Jacob Smith, and Little Russell Martin; four great grandchildren, Kimberly Gatzke, Joshua Gatzke, Jonas Gilbert and Kendyl Horner; one brother, Wayne Martin of Muscatine; and one sister, Helen Moore of Topeka, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Craig Allen Martin in infancy, and Russell W. Martin; and two sisters, Lorraine Diehl and Mary Martin.
